ABOUT

Hello, and thanks for visiting my website!

Perhaps much like your own life story, mine has chapters with beautiful moments, fun, love, hard work, disappointments, grief, and heartbreak. Through it all, I've always been drawn to the wonders of nature, to faith, and to creativity.

Recently retired as pastor of a busy church, I'm finding new grounding, resiliency, and lots of joy through practicing and creating with watercolor, gathering groups for creative expression, savoring nature's inspiration and wisdom, alongside faith's traditions, mysteries, and loving Spirit. As a life-long, curious learner, I've found the intersections between art, nature and the sacred emerging into Growing Edge Studio! I'm open to sharing artwork, nature journaling, short writings, speaking, and creative gatherings for all ages, with stories and meaningful encouragement in this crazy, hard and beautiful life.

Who knew that retirement would open up this new creative chapter in life with this website to connect with people like you! I look forward to the opportunity to visit with you about your own growing edge ideas and questions.

Grace & peace, Sherrie

I Remember

I remember learning about art principles and design elements as a 4-H'er, around age 10, and how nature was really the original source of good design! Just look at a tree for example ...texture, shape, form, balance, proportion, color and more. It's all there.

I remember my great climbing tree, its' sturdy, white bark and scratchy branches which held me hidden and safe above the ground. With a place like this, my imagination had time to climb even higher.

I remember making sailboats out of walnut shells and watching them sail down ditches as I carefully placed each one into the watery currents streaming after a big rain. I hoped, if they were fortunate enough, that  they might float all the way to the ocean.

I remember my childhood faith in a good and loving Creator God, the source of all this life. And some sort of mystery called Heaven.

But that was a long time ago.

What I've come to think and still wonder about in our relationship with the natural world, creativity, and our sacred connections has changed over the years.

Yet, the goodness, wonder, and love of it all remains.
